About Dr. Ping Zhu

Dr. Zhu is a licensed New York State Acupuncturist, certified by the NCCAOM (National Certified Commissions Oriental Medicine) since 1993. He possesses a Ph.D. and MD in China and is Board Certified in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology.

Dr. Zhu comes from a traditional Chinese medical family. His father was a pioneer in Chinese acupuncture. He invented Chinese electric acupuncture and electric acupuncture for anesthesia. Moreover, he has written 10 books in regards to the styles and techniques of Traditional Chinese Medicine in regards to acupuncture.

Growing up in this traditional Chinese medical family, Dr. Zhu learned his craft from his father and was passed down knowledge of the special techniques used in traditional Chinese acupuncture not taught in schools. He has mastered the difficult techniques of Tongue and Pulse diagnosis, which very few acupuncturists can apply accurately and correctly.

Dr. Zhu started studying Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in China and Germany and began to practice in the United States since 1992. He has gained 35 years of TCM experience in addition to his background in Western medicine. Dr. Zhu is also a professor of TCM and has over 25 years of teaching experience in herbal formula and acupuncture techniques, as well as in Tai Chi and QiGong. He also is a master teacher of Tai Chi and QiGong.

Dr. Zhu teaches Herbology which entails the formulation of medicines from traditional Chinese herbs to help treat patients of their conditions. Each patient has their specific needs and he caters to them by creating special blends of herbs according to traditional Chinese techniques. He teaches these special techniques to his students to ensure the tradition of Chinese Herbology continues.

Dr. Zhu has worked with professional hockey and football athletes to help them alleviate the pains and discomforts. There are many medical practitioners and doctors who seek Dr. Zhu's care and through his treatment, they believe in the effect of Chinese medicine and acupuncture.
